Lakeway Voters - Why I want to be your next Mayor
Two years ago we managed to help change the political conversation in Lakeway. Together, we were the catalyst for much of what the city is currently doing. There is still so much more work to be done for you, the residents of Lakeway.
Senior Tax Relief
I have served as both a Soldier and Civilian. After advocating for the community from the podium, I am well prepared to join the dais.
I will work to make every voice heard. Each resident, when dealing with council, and with the city administration will be treated fairly and with respect. I will work put an end to the undue influence of special interests.
The City Council has made great strides in opening up the Government to the Residents. However, more progress can be made here. Citizen Participation should be a priority. Meeting Agendas and Packets must be more timely and must be complete when published.
I have always been a champion for audits of the city's business practices and of our major development agreements. We are all pleased that City Council established a review process for Development Agreements. This is clearly a step in the right direction and now the City Leadership must be prepared to take a strong legal position to protect the residents.
The City Budget is one of the most time consuming and detailed processes the Council conducts. I have regularly attended and contributed to these meetings and work sessions. We need to make certain that our budget is targeted and expenses controlled. These are unique economic times for our Country, State and City. The residents of Lakeway have all had to tighten their belt and the City must demonstrate leadership in this situation.
Approximately 15% of the City's residents are 65 years or older. Many of these residents helped establish and build the city we know and love. Our city Homestead exemption is only $5,000 and I would propose we raise it gradually to $30,000.
Lakeway needs leadership that understands the need for a unified approach. We can't be split between Old Lakeway/Rough Hollow/Serene Hills. Nor between new arrivals and long term residents. Our goal is to maintain Lakeway's quality of Life while managing growth.
I need your help. Especially in these trying times. Emails, Block Walking, Putting up signs, letter writing, flyering, word-of-mouth, and donating are all ways of helping us win this election.
Campaigns are expensive. I would deeply appreciate your support. Times are tough, if you can't give right now that's okay. Consider volunteering and please Vote!
